This lovely house is located on a quiet street next to a large forest that’s been there for more than two decades... Over the years, the home has been lovingly restored and updated. Thanks to smart renovations that respect the distinctiveness of the house, it is now bathed in light and fits in perfectly with today’s style aesthetic, yet has retained its youthful charm.
One of the best features of this home is undoubtedly its large windows. Daylight is literally invited inside the home on all sides. To make the most out of it, an oval dining table with marble top has been chosen, as it beautifully reflects the light. The walls and ceilings are deliberated painted in a single light colour. This, too, lightens up the interior and optically enlarges the space. Walnut furniture gives the interior a stylish and modern look. The design is sleek and contemporary and the choice of materials adds a sense of warmth.
Since all spaces are connected, the colours and materials are continued in each room. You might be thinking that this probably creates a monotonous look. Think again. The picture below clearly contradicts this... It starts in the home office, as this room is separated from the living area by a steel-look glass door and wall. So while hard at work, you are still involved in the goings-on in your home without being disturbed. Walnut and trendy terracotta are the common denominators. This colour has been chosen, for example, for the desk chairs, sofa and even the bed linens. The result is instant elegance and a sense of tranquillity. The cowhide, artwork, contrasting cushions and well-chosen design lighting mean there is always something interesting to look at from every angle.
The original mansard roof has also been preserved, giving the building a stately look, while creating extra space and lightening up the top floor. The windows continue to the roof, resulting in a tremendous amount of natural daylight. An added bonus is that you can watch the clouds drift by while taking a bath or count the stars from your bed. The ultimate relaxation!
