Atmooz turns 2 !
Atmooz turns two this month! The perfect opportunity to discover a little more about the duo behind Atmooz. The Breckpot brothers created the lighting and decoration brand and are entrepreneurs at heart. And it has been a success because Atmooz has grown into an international e-commerce business in a short time.
Here they discuss their brand and pull the curtain back on their personal favourites.
How did Atmooz come about?
Yannick: 'Atmooz evolved from our furniture brand Charrell Home Interiors, which we chiefly sell in Belgium. We were very keen to get involved in international e-commerce. That is why we split our lighting collection off from our furniture collections to create Atmooz which now ships throughout Europe.'
Didier, how would you describe Atmooz in three words?
Didier: 'Atmosphere - Class - Affordable.'
Where did the name Atmooz come from?
Didier: 'When we first launched the venture we brainstormed a lot to find a name that was distinctive, had a lasting meaning and sounded good internationally. It was no easy task but then Atmooz suddenly came to me. From the word atmosphere.'
Finding a good name was no easy task. But suddenly Atmooz came to me, from the word atmosphere."
Where did your passion for interiors start?
Yannick: 'Our passion for interiors actually started with our entrepreneurship. We stumbled into the world of interior design, as it were, twelve years ago and were immediately hooked. We follow developments in the market closely and put our own twist on it. Although I have to admit to restyling my room over and over again when I was young. A beautiful interior is also important to our parents. So it's in our blood in a way.'
What makes Atmooz different?
Didier: Atmooz is a brand, not a web shop where you can buy products from different brands. That lends coherence to our collection which you can see reflected in our customers. They might start with a pendant lamp, for example, and then come back to buy a matching floor lamp. And we also get the items in our collection manufactured ourselves according to our quality standards.'
What are you most proud of?
Yannick: 'The creation of the brand and the growth we have achieved recently. As a brand, Atmooz has built up a name for itself in a relatively short time. But I am proudest when customers tell us how beautiful the lamps are in their interior. Or when they recommend us to their family and friends. That's always great to hear.'
Which Atmooz item is your personal favourite? And why?
Didier: The hanging lamps Balls because of their simplicity. Sleek and minimalist!'
Yannick: 'I'm a fan of the floor lamp Kisoro. It's beautiful and useful because it's a reading lamp and also creates ambiance. ’
Have you noticed any particular trends emerging at the moment?
Didier: 'Everything is getting a little sleeker. LED is also increasingly becoming the standard, often integrated into the lamp itself. Luminaires with special light sources also do very well.'
What's a no-go when it comes to lighting? In other words, what makes your hair stand on end?
Yannick: 'The wrong light source for a beautiful lamp! You can't create the right atmosphere if the light is too white or too yellow. That's why we also offer LED light sources to help our customers make the right choice.
How does Atmooz tackle sustainability?
Didier: 'Our products are very sustainable in that they last a long time and are largely recyclable. We also only offer LED light sources, which is currently the most sustainable form of lighting. Since we mainly ship via courier services, proper protective packaging is crucial. For this we use cardboard and air cushions made from a is 100% climate-neutral film. DPD, ou main courier service, also operates in a 100% climate-neutral way.'
What is your ultimate lighting tip?
Yannick: 'Coordinate all the lighting in the home. That creates peace and exudes class!'
